Old Wake Forest
“Old Wake Forest - 1912”
18" x 24" oil on canvas
The Raleigh and Gaston Railroad station was the beginning of the commercial development around Wake Forest College. Between 1880 and 1905, several of the businesses operating in Wake Forest were established: Powers and Holding Drugstore, W. W. Holding Cotton Merchants, Dickson Brothers Dry Goods and Jones Hardware. The Bolus, Wilkinson, Keith and Joyner families established businesses between 1910 and 1920. This growth allowed the community to draft its first charter and became incorporated on March 26, 1880 as the Town of Wake Forest College. In 1909 the charter was amended and the town renamed, Wake Forest.

This is an old country store that use to be located near the railroad tracks in Franklin County, North Carolina. The Store was moved up to the road when it became more profitable to have the store on the country highway. Now this beautiful historic building has to be torn down and the family that have past it down from generation to generation commissioned me to do a painting of it to commemorate the family history.

Lake Lynn
“Lake Lynn”
16" x 20" oil on canvas
I spent the day gazing over the lake as the Canadian geese with their goslings squawked and carried on as if they owned the place. God made these geese and all living things when he made Earth. It is truly amazing to me the details of any given leaf or the splendor of a sunlit lake. It is incredible and I marvel at its beauty when I paint His creations.

Shelley Lake 1
“Shelley Lake”
16" x 20" oil on canvas
As I sat painting for days at Shelley Lake in Sertoma Park, I enjoyed not only the wonderful view but the company of many visitors as they passed by to see me and my art work. Even though I have been coming to this park located just behind my house in Raleigh, North Carolina for 13 years, "Shelley Lake" is my first oils painting which captures this beauty on canvas. When my son was small ,we would swing on the swings and ride bikes around the paths taking in the full beauty of God's splendor. This park is such a special place, I decided to do a series of Shelley Lake in Sertoma Park as I marvel at creation and come in contact with my neighborhood community.

Murray's Mill
“Murray's Mill”
30" x 40" oil on canvas
In the rolling hills of Catawba County, Murray's Mill is located on the banks of Balls Creek. William Murray operated a mill on the site since 1883. In 1906, William deeded the property to his sons, John and Ollie. In1913, John replaced his father's mill with the current two-story structure, adding a 22' overshot waterwheel to replace the former turbine. William's original, one-ton French buhr millstones, for grinding corn, as well as a Eureka roller mill that John installed for grinding wheat into flour is still there. All of the mill's storage bins, each partitioned by tongue and groove sheathing, have been preserved, too.

Just imagine you are sitting on a sunny spring day at an outdoor cafe in Vienna sipping the best coffee you have ever tasted. Now look around, do you see the spectacular architecture, the fountains and magnificent statues. Can you see the other tourists, the people of all ethnic backgrounds strolling and admiring the sites just as you were before you stopped to rest your weary feet. You watch the business men and women walking briskly by in their Armani suits with their Louis Vuitton briefcases and their Versace sunglasses. Where are they going in such a hurry? You sigh, sip your coffee and think how glad you are to be relaxing in such glorious surroundings, God's creations.

Cristóbal Fort
“San Cristóbal Fort”
16" x 20" oil on canvas
San Cristóbal Fort was El Morro's partner in the city's defense. Built in 1634, it was considered the Gibraltar of the West Indies. San Cristóbal was supported by a massive system of outworks which provided defense in depth and is one of the largest defenses ever built in the Americas. It rose 150 feet, covering 27 acres of land. A strategic masterpiece, it features five independent units, each connected by moat and tunnel; each fully self-sufficient should the others fall.

Tree Through The Forest
“Tree Through The Forest”
30" x 40" oil on canvas
(SOLD)
As I sat at Lake Lynn painting and gazing over the water I turned and viewed the massive yet beautiful trees. They wrapped around the pathways through the forest with their own unique form. God so creates each one of them and us so perfect in His sight. I love painting trees with their strength that reach up to the heavens with their praise to our creator. He answered and said to them, "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out." Luke 19:40 Praise the Lord as all creation does.

Arno River II
“Jewish Ghetto”
18" x 24" oil on canvas
In 1624, Jews were granted their own quarter in the city later known as Leopoldstadt. Two synagogues were constructed in this ghetto, which Leopold I destroyed when he dissolved the ghetto in 1670. The Jewish renaissance in Vienna began in 1848 and citizenship rights were given to the Jews in 1867. Jews became predominant in all spheres of life and contributed to Vienna's cultural and scientific achievements. Jewish merchants, traders, entrepreneurs and businessmen contributed to this prosperity at the turn of the century. Some of the famous figures who hosted a salon attended by the major personalities of the time included the emperor, Mozart, and prominent Jewish physicians like Sigmund Freud. While visiting Vienna, I stayed in a room inside this building.

Arno River
“Arno River”
26" x 31" oil on canvas
Florence lies on both banks of the Arno River in central Italy, at the foot of the Apennines mountain range. The old bridges span the Arno River where shops line both sides and is a historic landmark. During the Renaissance, from 1300 to 1600, some of the greatest painters, sculptures, and writers in history lived and worked here. Florence is the capital of both province of Florence and the region of Tuscany. The Arno River rises in the Etruscan section of the Apennine Mountains in northwestern Italy. The fertile Arno valley has vineyards and olive groves, and is noted for its scenic beauty as you can see here in this painting.
