This painting was influenced by Georgia O'Keeffe's work. The hibiscus flower is one of many splendors with its intricate parts and exquisite color. This flower is growing abundantly in my mother's yard in Florida. It was hard to sit outside without wanting to paint this delicate beauty. My mother's yard has always embellished the loveliness of nature.
